Sorry I haven't updated this for a while I have been very busy covering a lot of ground.
After Kyoto and Osaka where I also visited Kobe and Nara, I headed west over to Hiroshima. This is one of my favourite places so far so beautiful and the people are so friendly. There is so much history, the memorial park is very impressive and the atomic bomb museum is very detailed and enlightening although quite tough too. There are also so many people who want to talk to you to tell their account of what happened, met a man who was in the womb when the explosion happened and one person who was a baby, they just wander the park all day talking to people showing photos as volunteers, also lots of peace promotors. I was lucky enough to arrive on the weekend of the biggest festival here, somehow I got roped into posing for photos at a department store with a handbag and being interviewed and I will soon appear on the front page of some Japanese newspaper!!!! All turned out well as some Japanese girls took me to the festival so I got to try the dancing in the photos. Its great but I was awful all of these old Japanese ladies are in full dress and as soon as the drum starts they all spring into action and know the steps!!!!
Whilst at Hiroshima I visited Miyajima which is amazing, it is home to the Ottori gates, a world heritage sight and apparently one of the most photographed sights in the world. Had a great day, took a ferry over, wandered around the island, saw the famous Itsukushine shrine with 1000's of buddhas. Decided to brave it and got 2 ropeways to half way up Mt. Misen, the islands tallest mountain. Saw the surrounding islands from a look out point and saw the wild monkeys which were so cute. Then I climbed to the top and because of the typhoon which had caused land slides it was a bit tricky, together with the heat I was struggling, but I made it!!!
Decided to walk down which was nice as noone else did!!! But by this point I was half way down so had to keep going takes about 90 minutes and is beautiful but the steps are more like small drops!
Will try and add the photos of the southern section of Japan soon and will write another blog, take care :)
