Hello everyone sorry I haven't updated this for a while!
Singapore was great! Really enjoyed it. The Orchard shopping road is immense with numorous complex's. Little India is full of Indian people (suprisingly!) and Indian food and culture. Lots of flower necklaces, insense and music. I really liked it here. Chinatown had great markets and food. The Quay and colonial areas were really interesting and the nightlife was good too!
Then I took a long, long train journey across the border to Malaysia.
KL was very different to anyweher I've been. The people stare a lot, some parts are run down whilst some of very modern, parts were a bit intimidating but once you get past the unknown the poeple are all really nice and totally made the trip. I tried some traditional street food and ate rice, pickles and runny sauces off a banana leaf with my hands which was interetsing!!! I saw the towers which are enormous too!!!!!! Had two great nights out with other travellers and smoked froma shisha pipe, I recommend berry flavour!
I then took another train to wakaf bharu which was a train station which resembled a barn! We got a taxi to the ferry port Khoru besut and went by speedboat to the perenthian island, which was really good fun. The islands are beautiful, the sun was too hot but the water was completely clear with white sand, beautiful palm trees and rocks. I stayed in a hut on the hill which was great fun although the showers are ice cold. Each night we had nice fresh BBQ dinners and sat on the beach with some drinks - paradise!!!!!
Then I headed by night coach to Butterworth, crossed the water and ended up in Penang. It is quite run down here but there are some local things to see and our hostel is a really cool massive wooden building with wooden cages and pots everywhere. Tomorrow I will head to Butterworth and then cross into Thailand.
Take care, Nicola :)
