We got up early this morning, not to do the cows as it was wet and miserable (plus Jock said the cows had s*** everywhere due to the bad weather and it wasn't a nice place to be this morning), but to get ready to go back to Christchurch for Jades orthodontist appointment. I was aware that I'd just come from here the day before but it was nice to spend time with Jade and also to see the route that I'd driven yesterday from the passenger seat. It's hard to take in the views when you're trying not to drive off a cliff.
So we got up and ready, had breakfast and left by 7.30. There had been snow on the mountains overnight so I was looking forward to seeing that. I could get good pictures as Jade was driving.
She must know half the population of this area too. She'd point out people in trucks, bumped into people at the petrol station, saw her grandad on his tractor, we stopped at a lookout point and a trucker pulled over to speak to her! Bloody loads! So we got to Christchurch and she drove me a bit around the city to see the damage the earthquake had caused, that was pretty bad and I imagine it was a nice place before the damage. We went to the orthodontist and she wanted me to go in with her so I could reminisce about when I had my braces. She's an odd one she really is! We went shopping quickly in the mall as she doesn't really have any decent shops over where she is. She bought me Chinese for lunch too bless her, as a thank you for keeping her company. We soon were back on the road for the long drive home. We spent most of this chatting again, in-between her shouting 'gay b******s' at 2 bulls humping in a field and racing a coach load of Asian tourists to the toilets. God I've missed her! We stopped at a waterfall in Arthurs Pass that she wanted to show me and a few other lookouts for pictures although the weather was getting worse. We stopped in Hokitika for some food shopping and then finally got home and had a beer! It was a 12 hour round trip but had such a laugh it was worth it. I couldn't stay awake much longer though so I had a hot chocolate and went to bed. Had to be up early tomorrow for my first encounter of early morning milking! Very excited......
