I had my lay in this morning but woke up feeling pretty groggy. I was quite pissed by the time I went to sleep last night! I sorted all my stuff, showered and checked out. I didn't want to leave this awesome place but I had places to go, people to see. Wanaka was on the agenda today so just a short hours drive which was nice for a change! I took a different route as opposed to the Crown Range, because a) it was steeper in that direction and b) I wanted to see things along this route. I was cruising along in the sunshine, looking at all the autumn coloured trees which are beautiful. I stopped at Lake Hayes and took some photos. So still and peaceful. I carried on my short journey until I got to Wanaka. I parked up at the lake front and had a little walk before sitting and eating my lunch. On my own, Nicky No Mates! I had a bit of a walk round the town (which didn't take long at all) and took a magazine down to the lake to sit and chill in the sunshine. I wasn't there long before Shane text me and said they were just getting to the hostel. I walked up and met them as they got off the bus. We managed to get into a dorm together, away from the kiwi experience lot. The hostels nice but the rooms were tiny! As was the kitchen. We all went for a walk round the town, a bit further than I'd walked and stopped at the supermarket for some bits for dinner. Pasta again. Cheap and easy. There were about 30 odd people in this kitchen and it was bedlam. I'll never complain about how many people are in my kitchen at home now! Damn it was busy. We had to wait for pans, for stoves, for plates and cutlery. But we were altogether which was the main thing. Sod doing that on my own! After dinner we went to the hostel bar for a few drinks and played pool. Not a wild night but we were all tired so it was fine. Back in our room the Japanese girls we were sharing with have obviously cranked the heating up as its like a sauna in here. Not sure I'm gonna get that much sleep........
