We were up really early today to catch the 0630 bus out to Pearl Harbour. Tickets are free but limited so they reccommend that you get when it opens at 0730, so that is exactly what we did and we were in the 2nd group out to the memorial. It was quite eary looking at the sunken ship knowing how many lives it took and how many men are still trapped inside but definitely glad we went to see it. The smell of oil was so strong, they say it sank with literally millions of gallons of oil on board which now weaps from the wreck, you could see it in the water. We were surprised at how much of the ship we could see and of course at the huge list of names - so many men lost their lives there - horrifying. There wasn't a Nitman on the list but we did find a Beaumont.
We got the bus back but got off in downtown Honolulu and took a stroll around Chinatown - but we only managed to find 1 pagoda unfortunately. After picking up something for dinner and dropping it back to the hostel (where we watched a bit of the Pro Bowl match) we decided to walk along the beach.
We walked for miles and eventually came to a small, secluded beach. It was beautiful, reminded us of the islands used for Shipwrecked on TV. We saw the biggest crabs ever there!! After relaxing there and enjoying the sunshine we made the long walk back to Waikiki. Nick was so tired when we got back he collapsed and went to sleep for a few hours before I woke him up for some dinner! We packed ready for our flight tomorrow to Maui and then went to bed.
