What an awesome (but cold) 2 weeks we have had. Margaret river followed by a well earned break from camping in a unit in north Fremantle. Our apartment was a self contained studio apartment that looked over the swan river, Fremantle port and the ocean.... Walking distance to public transport. Ah the city is sometimes good!!
We arrived in Freo on Sunday quick check in to our room then off to little creatures for a catch up with a few of Clint's old army mates. I was the driver because if u don't already know we are expecting a new addition to the grose family... Sitting on 12 weeks preg this week and finally feeling like eating meat just I'm time for the eating fest we plan to have in the big smoke!
So after 50 thousand beers that the boys had I carried my two boys up to the little apartment and got a restful sleep....
The weather stayed s***house for the week but it didn't stop us from doing indoor activities such as shopping, dining out, scitech (science & tech exhibition), aquarium... Yesterday the rain had disappeared but it was overcast and cold so we headed for the zoo. As we leave Perth today the sun is shining and the weather prediction ahead is hitting the 30's so time to get out the razor and shave the winter cost off my legs! Ha
We got a real kick out of watching the massive ships pull onto the port and off load container after container car after car truck after truck... And before long they were all off the dock and the ship was gone to make room for the next one to come in.... Was an awesome site especially of a night when their lights were shining... Similar to christmas really! And then when u look out to sea the ships waiting in line for their turn to come on was just an awesome site!
We made the most of seeing the brewery's visiting most and clint of course enjoyed testing all the beers out! I ended up finally catching up with an old primary school friend deb yesterday as they own the mad hatters markets which trade fri-sun and then starting next week they will be trading 5 days... Pretty awesome lifestyle I reckon!
We had a plan to get on the scooters and skateboard along the big walkways but the weather just didnt allow that! So I guess the gold coast will be the place for that!
So we have a month to get back.., we plan to get to kalgoorlie today then Norseman and the eyre hwy which is of course the famous nullarbor.... Really not much to see other than a straight road and flat land to one side and the southern ocean to the other.... Those days will be long days to try and plug thru to get to ceduna and then down to streaky bay! So until the next update in the words of john Williamson "why don't u take ya best mate and sail the nullarbor".... That's us!
