We have just completed our 3 days on the beautiful Nigaloo Reef Exmouth WA. Another over priced caravan park... However it did have a lovely pool with a 3m deep end for scuba diving courses, and a top quality Italian restaurant. It was also walking distance to the local pub which had a restaurant around a pool... Very tropical... Reminded me of a bar I've been to in cairns, but not as tacky.. In fact the food was of very high standard. We blew our budget in Exmouth with eating out and participating in a reef snorkeling/glass bottom boat tour. Paddy spent the entire time on the boat as he was a little scared of the fish... (surprise surprise) but he did enjoy watching them through the glass. The reef is totally different to that of the great barrier... It isn't as colorful, however the fish make up for it... It was an awesome contrast to see the fish against the natural coral and we saw a massive variety of marine life! Nigaloo reef is famous for the whale shark and although there was none at this time of the year it was great to hear about them from our on board marine biologist... Paddy finally saw "emo" (nemo) which he was very excited about and he was just generally happy to be on the boat and able to see fish without getting wet!
The other couple of days saw us relax by the pool, and drive around to check out the houses, marina and sites of Exmouth!
We are now heading to Carnavon for a night or two. I think we will notice the weather change now.. Will have to crack out the long sleeves again... 22 degrees is a little chilly!
