After the east coast highlights of Fraser and Whitsundays we were quite ready to chill down the rest of Queensland. We made our way to Noosa stopping off at a place called Rainbow beach to learn how to play the didgeridoo (I was rubbish) and throw a boomerang (not so bad at this). We also learnt some things about the aboriginals (quite sad the way the English came in and took over!). Once at Noosa, (which is a bit of a posh beach town, often compared with Florida keys) we headed straight to the beach and watched people surf. The next day we went to the 'Spit' which is where the ocean and the lake meet and its very pretty with lots of little beaches to relax at and you have to walk through some woods to get there. On our last day in Noosa we were bored of the beach (poor us) so we decided to rent a little tin boat and explore the lakes. The houses there were something else! So jealous. They have their own little private beaches and all sorts. I loved driving the boat, as normally I am not allowed to drive anything seeing as I don't have a drivers licence!! But Katy chilled while I managed to get us stuck in sandy shallow water and try and work out the anchor system!
After Noosa we headed to Brisbane! Pretty much every place we go to we have a budget to do one big activity (like the boat in Noosa) and in Brisbane we decided this activity was going to be shopping!!! So for two days all we did was look around a hell of a lot of shops (I got a headache), go to watch Borat (so wrong its right) and go out and get drunk! We met up again with Sarah and Dan (a couple we've met) and one night we were all in a bar and I got dragged (ok I was not exactly kicking and screaming) up on stage with a very very hot stripper!! The pictures are on the website for you ladies. I got very drunk that night on snakebite and managed to fall over. Was a really good night which included meeting a scary real life pirate, watching amateur drunk men trying to strip later on in the night and me demanding the hostel staff open the kitchen as I was hungry and wanted my left over pasta. Next day needless to say I was in a lot of pain that only a cheese burger managed to fix.
After Brisbane we made the short journey to Surfers Paradise. My nan has some friends here from when she did the east coast (go nan!!) so my nan arranged for us to stay with them. We were staying with Sue and Ronald Mc Donald (yes that is his real name and his password at Blockbusters is BigMac if anyone wants to rent some films at his expense). They also have four (yes four!!) teenage sons, which was quite funny. They picked us up and when we got to their house I was floored - it was huge and just like the houses in Noosa we were jealous of!! They have a swimming pool in their back garden which looks out onto the Lake. They have a pool table and all the other home comforts we had badly been missing like a bath and a TV! They were so good to us. Sue is a super mum who cooked us an amazing roast dinner and Ronald stuck a steak on the Bar-B for us. Their oldest son Chris, who is 19 was a very good host who took us to the beach (saw jelly fish when I snorkelled, was quite scared!!) and drove us around town showing us the point where the Queensland and New South Wales meet (their an hour apart so we made tons of stupid jokes when we were taking pictures, like see you in an hour lol. I thought it was funny anyway!!). He also took us on their little boat around the Lake. Matt, who is 15 was also a star. He taught is how to do some fishing (I caught the smallest fish in the world but was so happy). He also helped me do a much needed update on my ipod. Dan, who is 17 was the funny man who managed to spill my drink all over me when saying goodbye - he cracked us up at dinner with all his stories about when they were young. Dave, who is 16 was the quiet one! He was a star and drove us to Wet 'n' Wild which is one of the many theme parks in Surfers. We had a great time where, trying out all the scary rides screaming my head off. I was more scared on the free fall slide than I was when I did my skydive. On the last day in surfers we went down to the beach to see some actual surfers! But mainly we shopped again as were getting eachother little stockings for Christmas.
We were really really really spoilt in sufers, getting fed like queens with prawns and champagne and driven around everywhere and I want to thank all the Mcdonalds for making us so welcome and giving us a great time - was great to be around a family again and have some home comforts. Thankyou!
