Buon compleanno a me!!!!! Had an amazing day today. Fresh croissants for breakfast and then off to the Pantheon to meet my guide for the My Rome Food Tour. Spent the next 4 hours with guide Irene (originally from Holland) and Alex and Heather from Philladelphia. We explored the history of food in Rome - coffee, snacks, of course pizza and pasta, sweets - as we walked around many cobblestone streets. After the tour we returned to the Pantheon in time for the amazing experience of rain coming through the opening in the dome roof. Alex, Heather and I then went off to find the Trevi Fountain. There were SO many people there. I tossed my coin in to ensure my return to Rome :-) After nearly 6 hours of walking and exploring I found my way back to my hotel. Vickie (who I will be visiting in the Netherlands soon) rang me and we had a long overdue chat. Great being in the same time zone as her. Buona Notte!
