First stop in Peru was the sunny beach town of Mancora which was a really beautiful town with lots of locals setting up their market stalls along the dusty roads! We welcomed the sun in Mancora and headed to the beach on the first day where we parked our bums under an umbrella, ordered our drinks and read our books in the sun. Unfortunately the lovely miss smith underestimated the power of the sun and returned back to our hotel looking like a homemade sunderland strip! :-) Rather amusing. Luckily she wasn't too sore and she is now sporting a nice tan and suprise suprise, we look like ying and yang as yes, I am still lily white and will return to England lily white, unless my freckles decided to merge as one very nice pretty tan. Yeah, I won't hold my breath! Maybe the fake tan might have to come out on the flight home!

Next day, a late start, we joined another tour group at their beach for a spit roasting of a pig! This was yet another beautiful beach with a gorgeous sunset and hundreds of ickle crabs! <br\>
<br\>
A nice relaxing four days but we were both ready for more sight seeing and learning about the culture! (Well I cant teach drinking games all the time can I??) Dont answer that actually as I am sure I would be quite content travelling and teaching the world ring of fire!<br\>
So we departed Mancora and headed to Huanchaco, where we camped in a village off the coast. Hunachaco is a mud town where we visited pre inca ruins and learnt all about the how the towns were built from mud, sand and water and the the meaning of the fantastic paintings and drawings inside some of the temples and buldings that had been built by the Spaniards before it was stormed by the incas. Fascinating to see how intact the buildings were that had been built centuries ago and to learn what archeologists have interpreted about these drawings since discovering thems. Pictures to be uploaded on the blog soon! (hopefully, technology permitting) Camping was ace, I loved it. Especially as I finally got to test out my bad boy four season sleeping bag which was sooooo hot as its not quite inca trail temps yet! You could hire these rather cute little reed boats here but the sea was a tad rough so didnt feel like risking my life quite yet! <br\>
<br\>
Another long journey to the bustling town of Huaraz where our first stop was a curry house ran by a man from Preston, Lancashire! It was the nicest tikka masala, six of us went and loved it! I know I am travelling and meant to be travelling but in these big towns, its either chicken and chips from a street vendor, dodgy chinese for a pound (no thanks) or 35sols for a yummy indian or thai! Next day, Ali, myself and a girl called Sinead decided we would undertake the gruelling climb up a mountain to visit the most stunning lake in Peru (Lake 69) apparently they ran out of names. We started the climb at Lake Llagunno at an altitude of 3200metres and climbed to an altitude of 5100 or 5200 metres. It was possibly the most strenous, difficult, gruelling physical activity that I have ever put myself through but totally worth it when you got to the top and you came face to face with some of the most stunning views of the andes and were right next to a beautiful snow capped mountain. It was so hard, we had to stop every ten paces to be able to breath properly. It was only on our return to the bottom of the mountain that we could really see the full extent of our climb and it was indeed something to be proud of!",1] ); //--> Also in Mancora we had yet another awesome night out after Ali and I decided it was our duty to teach the others the beauty that is the ring of fire. (for the uninitiated, its a rather messy drinking game! However this game of ring of fire is the funniest and messiest I have ever played and Ali and I were taught a thing or two by our truck driver. The bars of Mancora did not know what had hit them when we rolled out into them at about 11pm, which by the way is still happy hour. (one benefit of south american time, happy hour goes on till they want it to, love it) so we were drinking two for one cocktails which worked out at two cocktails for 1.50. No sooner had the good tunes started that we were onto the next bar where we played the good old drinking game of roxanne which our truck driver is very fond of! Not an easy game if you are already a tad unsteady on your feet as it involves a lot of sitting down and standing up and drinking at the same time! (trust me, not as easy as it sounds) The night took off when ABBA blared out of the speakers and Dave and I thought we were dance king and queen and decided the dance floor was ours for the taking!
