Saturday and Sunday have been full of adventures here in New South Wales. Duncan has offered to have us stay here until Tuesday morning when we head off to Yamba. This works great because it means we get to spend more time with Duncan and his family while also allowing us to see Byron Bay and possibly Nimbin... Which are quite close for an easy day trip.
Yesterday, Marc got up early (5:30) to go to the gym with Duncan and some of his friends. Peter and I stumbled out at 7:30 and headed into Ballina to meet the gym crew for breakfast.
After helping Duncan hook up his tv aerial on the sailboat, we headed up to Lennox Head for some time on the beach. Lennox Head was a cute place and has a great ice cream place called in the pink ... We sampled some of their delicious gelato.
We arrived back in Alstonville at 6:00... Just in time to pack our backpacks and head out to the sailboat. Duncan, Marc and I motored down the river, picked up Peter in Ballina and then anchored for some supper.
After supper we dropped off Peter so that he can hang with his friends. We returned to our protected mooring and after much great conversation and wine we all retired for the evening on the Maggie Drum. Did I mention that it's a 42 foot Withby cutter! And we had our own private aft cabin.
After a leisurely morning breakfast, we took Maggie Drum for a 3 hour cruise down the coast which included dolphin sightings and a sand bar crossing with huge waves. We stopped at a beach to wait for high tide and had ice-cream.
It was one of our best and memorable days thanks to Duncan.
