Yesterday I had my first and likely only surf lesson. It's not easy and even though I have extensive windsurfing experience it was still a disaster in my books. I booked a private lesson for 1.5 hours and after 55minutes I was battered, bruised, half drowned and had to quit. So basically the coach pulls me out into the surf and we get battered by big waves, then he points me down towards the beach as a big wave come racing in. It's at this point you have to spring up, get into the right position and surf. Most of my time was spent falling backwards butt first into the hard sand. I did manage one clean run to shore.
Total cost 50 ozzy dollars, 2 bruised gluteous maximuses , 1 sore left heel, bruised left hand (its blue and red today) and a bunch of dignity.
The weather is still beautiful, locals tell us that it's always the same weather year round.
We had Thai last night and as indicated by Sanda and others, Asian food is exceptionally good in Oz as well as affordable. 42dollars total. In Coffs 2 double ice cream cones will set you back 12 dollars.
Today we hung around the headlands during the morning, and then drove out to Coffs harbor again . We splurged and got a boogy board (yes to make up for the surf fiasco). It is much fun and a good workout.
Later in the afternoon a big storm cam in, so we got stranded in the car and is why I am updating the blog.
Tomorrow we leave for our helpx week in byron bay . We have totally no clue as to what to expect. But as always it will be an adventure.
