Traveling through the Alps from Switzerland back unit France was quite an adventure. Matthew found a road that included a number of very long tunnels, one of which we had to travel through on a train.
We drove onto the train and then spent around 20 minutes traveling through a very long tunnel under the Alps. It was quite an experience and it was very dark inside the tunnel although the fellow in front of us was checking his phone while we were rattling along.
When we got off the train we then drive on to the French ski resort of Chamonix where we stopped for lunch. The village was very quiet although there were still some people skiing as there is year round skiing on the glaciers.
The funniest thing I saw there were the range of knee braces for sale in the chemist window. It reminded me of the how many people must ski like me with a brace on to hold my knee together.
Next update will cover our time in Annecy.
