I stayed at Lonely Beach on Ko Chang, which was much less crowded than I thought it would be, and made a really good base for doing walks around the island, but after a couple of days I got a bit bored of beaching it, so decided to move on to Siem Reap. I was told the journey would take 6hrs, but because of delays getting a ferry, at the border, and general bad traffic/bad roads, it ended up taking 14... so I arrived in Siem Reap at 9 that night.
Siem Reap was really beautiful, Psar Chaa was your typical Asian market, and had some really cool stuff, and I also found what has to be the coolest shop in the world, they sell clothes and also music and videos, which they upload straight onto your iPod or whatever, and they're also a cafe with really comfy seats and great food... wish we had them back in the UK
Angkor Wat was completely off the scale, the actual Angkor Wat complex was really well preserved, and I got to go right to the top of it, those monks must have had really strong thighs though, the steps are really steep! My personal highlight was Ta Prohm though, it was used as a location on one of the Lara Croft films, and is the one with the trees growing around the buildings and all the ruins, it was really amazing, and from what I could see the renovations seemed to be done quite well, but that is still an ongoing project.
Now I'm in Phnom Penh, which is really cool, even though I nearly froze to death on the night bus to get here. This morning I went to the Tuol Sleng Museum, which was one of the prisons during Pol Pot's regime, of 20,000 prisoners to go there only 7 survived, and in some of the cells you could still see the blood stains on the floor. On the walls they had the mug shots taken of the prisoners as they entered the prison, and also some of the 'less upsetting' pictures of victims after torture. It was definitely a lot to think about
