7/20*Week Three and fourI have been really busy that I have not had the time to write, I get home exhausted. And lately all I want to do is sit on the beach and read. I have not done a whole lot of activities. I really have to remind myself that I AM IN HAWAII. My internships are doing well. At VLSH I have placed about 5 cases. This is exciting! I was offered to stay and work there and Charles offered to write my a letter of recommend if I ever need one. I will certainly have to take him up on that offer. Charles is not out of the office, he is studying for his bar exam. So I am in charge of placing all the cases!! This is nice, I really did not want an intership that had me answer phones all that, that would be a waste of my intelligence LOL! But really, I want to learn something. I am learning about the kind of workers attorneys do, knowing how to pick out important facts from cases and using legal jargon (Elle Woods in Legally Blonde) My other job is not as interesting as I thought it would be. It is mostly filling papers. But I learned something else that Judges do. When you apply for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), you fill out documents about the when you were abused and what happened. Judges are the ones that decide whether or not what you say has merit, that people you want a TRO against are unsafe. The can grant you the TRO, deny it or hold off until you provide more information. After that we make copies of the documents for everyone, the documents, the plaintiff and the police that will serve the TRO. That usually takes up all morning, the lunch. (I work on Restaurant Row, by the Harbor, I had some Cambodian egg rolls, on Thursday, that were good!! I am gonna have to get that recipe)
My math class sucks!! I had a C- on my exam!! That is better that failing though!! I need to pick myself up, but I really don't want to, but I need to pass this class cause I need to graduate and it is my pre-requisite!! Hmm…we took the second exam, but I don't think I did any better. Friday I rented "Rendition" and more than ever, I believe in the evil within us. In the movie this guy's brother dies and so he goes on a crusade to avenge for his death. He makes friends with the girl whose father was the prison guard that killed the guy's father. So the guy tries to kill her father, but to protect him, the girl dies…its all very dark, but it is a great movie!
This Saturday I went to hike up in the mountains. I was looking for Laie waterfalls. I completely missed the right trails. I hiked for like 2hrs, finally gave up, rested and then went down the hills, only to find that I missed the sign that gave me directions!! I am going to return, but I will leave early that way I can spend more time there. It is going to be absolutely beautiful, I cant wait. Then afterwards we went to this art galla where over a hundred artists had come to showcase and sell their art. Check these sites out, they were some of my favorites— www.toangaglass.comand www.carlgouveina.com!
Next Saturday I want to got to Harleiwa, this little artsy town and find the giant turtles everyone has been talking about. I am also hoping to get to go to Maui, the bigger Island and find volcanoes. But it looks like flying will be too expensive, so a ferry will be cheaper.
