Neil's Round the World Trip!
Today we got up early packed up our tents etc, had breakfast weetabix and long life milk (yuk!) and drove to Lake Wabby. It was an exhausting 40 minute trek and the toilets were shambolic! It was a wooden hut with a large cesspit that you can look down (where you see rotting sh$t and well it's not very nice but as the poster on the door states it is the "most environmentally friendly toilet in Australia!!). I saw 3 dingoes when I came out of the toilet but they were again disinterested and just meandered away across the bush. However I also saw my first big venomous spider-god it was so big!! I took a photo- I was so amazed!
We finally reached Lake Wabby which is green and full of fish that bite off peeling skin, scabs, psoraisis etc They nibbled at my sunburnt back and neck (it felt all tickelly-pretty cool!) Also theres massive dunes which run down to the lake so you can run down and dive straight in the cold water; it's great!
We left the lake and drove to Lake McKenzie again where we had a swim and then dashed to catch our ferry back to Hervey Bay. I chilled in the hostel and had shepherds pie from the $6 budget menu. I leave for Byron Bay (the famous hippy town) tomorrow via Brisbane. Yes..it's another 6am start to get the Greyhound bus!!
