I'm not very good with blog titles, as you can see. It's so literal. No creativity. No laughter. Just boom, this is it. Read it. Please.
But anyways.
The weekend after the castle was my friend, Rachel's birthday. And boy was it a crazy weekend.
Three nights of drinking and then on her actual birthday, on Sunday, we headed on up to Lake Placid to enjoy the peak. I never asked what they meant when they said 'peak' but I guessed it was when the trees were so beautiful and orange and it was at the peak of these colours that we were experiencing. The peak of fall before the leaves all disappeared and the trees were bare.
That made enough sense to me.
It took us almost three hours, possibly more to get to Lake Placid before we were adventuring around first.
We stopped here and there to take beautiful pictures of the foliage, Then made a detour to Whiteface to catch the Gondola up so we could get a beautiful view. We hung out and took it all in. Then finally, we made our way to Lake Placid.
There we met up with two other American friends and one of their parents. We ate a hearty dinner at a pub and had our food paid for because his parents were incredibly generous. Afterwards, we shopped around in the dark for a bit before heading back home.
It was more adventurous then it sounds, I swear. On the drive there when we were stopping for pictures we would venture off into nowhere. We found a waterfall that we were climbing on the rocks off. We found a back path that we sat on the edge of a rock of to enjoy the steep view. We skipped rocks and we took a wrong turn at least once.
I honestly feel so lucky to be here and have made the friends that I have.
