Rudely awoken at around 4am by a loud bang on the roof of the truck, first guess was baboons but to my amazement I sat up to see 3 large female elephants banging and pushing the truck! 5.45 wake up call for a boxing day game drive. Me Jon and Tom were the only ones of our group to go on the game drive. Which lasted 4 hours and we seen Warthog, Zebra, giraffe, elephant plenty of hippos water buffalos and some crocodiles. Unfortunately no lions or leopards. Arrived at camp in south luangwa after a bumpy 4 hour journey down a dirt track. Very nice camp site situated on a river bank with a bar and swimming pool. Camp site is famed for its wildlife with Hippos and elephants walking through camp being a regular occurrence! Hopefully we will seem some hippos and ele's up close. Today Me, Jon, Martin, Rogan and Dianne rafted the Zambezi river. Met at reception and headed for the boiling pot in Victoria falls, starting point for the rafting. Me and Di both fell out on rapid one, good start to the day. The first 10 rapids on the Zambezi are grades 4 and 5, rapid 9 is prohibited as its a grade 5+.
