Today we had a lazy breakfast, waiting for our minivan to transfer us to Mollapata and start the Salkantay trek. The drive was pretty uneventful, until we got past Mollapata. We then realized that the meeting point with our new team of muleteers was higher than the village, and the driver had to take us there on a dirt road, without a 4WD vehicle, but with old slick tires. It worked well for at least 25 minutes, past incredibly muddy sections, and past other groups of Trekkers that had started hiking from the village, but then in a muddy curve, another minivan in front of us got stuck in the mud and we couldn't pass. We got out, pushed the minivan, cut branches and added dirt to the road, but eventually it didn't work and we had to let the driver return to Cusco. We loaded all our food and camp luggage on a truck that was coming from above, and hiked to the rendezvous point, for just 45min.
After that it was an easy 2hr hike to our spectacular camp, in front of the glacier of Humantay, Salkantay's wife mountain.
