Sally picked me up in the morning with just one hitch. Sally was at the downtown Doubletree and I was at the Greentree Doubletree. Luckily they are not too far apart. Sally had the day planned. This stop on my trip is the only one that I did not plan anything but visiting my cousin who lives somewhat close to Sally. I knew Sally would have a very good plan even though she says she is not a good tour guide she really is. Spending time with Sally brought back memories of the good times and hard work we did together at Printronix.
We headed to Station Square which was once the Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railroad station but is now shops, restaurants and the departure point for the Gateway Clipper. We boarded the Gateway Clipper and set out on about a one hour cruise which touches parts of the Allegheny and Monongahela River which form the Ohio River. The point at which the rivers converge is aptly called Three Rivers. From the boat we could see the Steelers fans in the stadium and sometimes hear the roars.
Early dinner at the Grand Concourse was excellent. The food was simply perfect from appetizer to the seafood trio of shrimp, salmon and crab cake and the delicious martini. After dinner we took a wild ride up the hill to ride the incline - a drive which will remain in the category of what happens in Pittsburg stays in Pittsburg (in the vault Sally - in the vault). The lights of the city from the incline were spectacular. Pittsburg has a beautiful skyline. Sally was a little disappointed that it rained off and on but in the end everything worked out great. Sally was kind enough to bring an extra jacket for me - this was the first time I needed anything other than a light jacket. May have to shop before I get home.
