Another nice early morning, no matter how many we have im still not getting used to it, so that we could get on the bus to Colca Canyon. Left the main parts of our bags at the hostel and just took our day packs with only the bare essentials. It was once again a nice scenic bus ride through the Andes again, don't think ill ever get sick of the views over here. Met some great people on the bus, Remco from Holand, Monica from Brazil, Mark from Canada and Jenny from Germany. As the only young people on the tour we kind of stuck together. We ate some overpriced alpaca for lunch then kept driving til we got to Chivay. This was to be our base for the night before heading to the canyon in the morning. The main attraction in Chivay is not only its closeness to the canyon but its nice natural hot baths where we went to relax for a little while before the tour group tried to drag us into another grossly overpriced restaurant which all the young ones boycotted in favour of a nice local place which we got a 3 course meal for 5 soles each and then onto the towns Irish pub for a few pisco sours, which were 2 for 8 soles, and some free pool. Turned out to be a great night. Oh yeah a pisco is a locally brewed clear brandy kind of like the Peruvian grappa. Mix this with lime sugar and egg white and you get a pisco sour.
