Day started with a 2am flight from LAX to Quito on TACA airlines the departure lounge and check in at LAX was s*** waited for so long and it was not what you'd expect from one of the world's major airports.

Flight was good we got to stop over in San Jose, Costa Rica for 1hr 1/2 got out on the runway and walked to the terminal so we have now been on Costa Rican soil.

Got to Quito airport one of the first in line for immigration got to the desk and what do you know the flight attendant gave us the wrong form so we had to go tto the back of the que which had grown by then from empty to full.

Went pretty smoothly though then we got into a crazy taxi for the trip to our swank hotel the Hotel Vieja Cuba nice hotel great spot. We settled in had a decent shower the headed off on a walk into La Mariscal which is the tourist part of Quito which was pretty dead it being a Sunday, unlike us the people over here must actually relax on the weekend!

Had dinner at a fantastic cafe called La Boca Del Lobo funky looking, unbelieveably good food , great staff especially Cecille the cute waitress who was teaching us proper spanish, especially me, as i tried to poorly say things in spanish.

Walked home full and content without breaking the budget to get a good nights sleep ready to go and start the adventure in the Amazon jungle tomorrow.
