Hola chicos, como estan??
or in english: How are you guys? Well, we are good - again. We passed through some less enjoyable days. Anna had stomach cramps for almost a week, resulting in quite some changed plans and some not so nice days. But lets start from the beginning:
Still in San Gil - the outdoor capital of Colombia we had to cancel our rappeling trip - or it was canceled because it started raining too heavily...Well what a good timing because Anna got sick the same day. We had planned to go hiking the following week, including a three day trip to the high peaks of Colombia. With the uncertainty about health we decided to change our plans, to cross the country and to go to Medellin first.
A good decision in terms of planning (as Anna remained ill), but a bad one as we did not like Medellin at all...at least until we went to Parque Arvi, but that is nature..outside the city and therefore does not count :). We abandoned Medellin after a day and headed for the Coffee Zone. A nice area with magnificent views and nice hikes (!) through valleys and coffee fields. This was when we noticed that Anna had still not recovered and unluckily met quite some more rain. This was topped only by our camera breaking (too bad for you all - those are the last pics..).
After some time in bed (and quite some rainy weather) we finally decided to go to the doctor...Also an experience. A first wrong diagnosis brought us some days with antibiotics, but no relieve. Two days later we found out that she had cohabitants or better called parasites :(. Gone after some pills - would we have known earlier!!
We decided that after some bad days good ones had to follow! We booked some days in a Hacienda, a very nice rural hotel at a coffee farm. With a pool with view over the valley, a sauna and jacuzzi...For pics see: http://www.flickr.com//photos/63353181@N06/show/ The perfect environment to recover. We even had some sun and could enjoy the pool.
Now, we are able to enjoy our last days in Colombia again - will go to Villa de Leyva, a beautiful colonial city and meet some friends in Bogota.
And then...looking forward to see you all soon again!!!
Yours,
Anna & Maarten
