Back in Toronto we decided to take a trip to Niagara Falls. It doesn't matter how many times you visit it, it's still breathtaking. It was a lovely clear day, which gave us a chance to enjoy a tour round a local winery in the Niagara Peninsula. Here, I decided to try the speciality ice wine. It's more suited to being a dessert wine and is quite intense in flavour. As the guide mentioned, just a few times, for every grape harvested, you only reap one drop of wine....

Today we set off on a 5 hour bus ride to the capital of Canada, Ottawa. I got quite excited, as I had my first glimpse of snow on the way into the city. Our accommodation was right in the heart of the Byward Market area, which was packed with restaurants, bars and little market stalls. I was shocked at how bitterly cold it was in comparison to the temperature in Toronto. Of course, I didn't bring my thermals did I?! Saturday was just as cold, but walking around...

The first part of Dave's trip was a mixture of sightseeing, eating, relaxing and drinking. Actually, the second half was the same; just in a different location! The weather was great, so I took Dave on a tour of downtown Toronto on our way to the CN Tower. There was a mixture of clear sky and high clouds so we had clear views looking out across Toronto. We stood on the glass floor looking down at the bottom of the tower. I still don't fully trust that glass! On...

Halloween! And despite all of my pumpkin-carving efforts, we only had 2 trick-or-treaters! Then again, I'm not sure we were ever going to be able to compete with the houses across the road. They lay out tables on the front porch laden with cakes, biscuits and sweets. Show offs!! Can't say I'm too bothered though, as Dave's plane lands tonight. So excited!!

Decided to carve out our Thanksgiving pumpkin today and turn it into a Halloween one. Hours and a lot of carving later , I was feeling pretty pleased with myself! I think the pumpking looked suitably menacing! With or without a nose! As I predicted, Nick managed to walk right passed it on her way into the house without noticing it! After all that hard work, a beer and a slice of tiramisu on the front porch was well deserved! How civilised!
