Milla and Jonny's Travels
At the moment, we are painfully recovering from what was a monumental party - The Full Moon Party. Before we discuss the night's manic events, we must first talk about the Songkram Festival, otherwise known as Thai New Year. The New Year celebrations last for three days, finishing with a mass water fight all over Thailand. We were unaware of this. So, yesterday we got a lift on the back of some friends' rented mopeds and headed down to the nearest town, Thong Sala. By the time we got there we were already saturated! There were hundreds of people in this tiny town, of all ages and nationalities, dancing to trance music blasted out from each shop and everyone was brandishing water pistols and buckets. No one was safe, and by the end of the day there was not a single dry person to be found. Very different from British New Year!
So, on to the Full Moon Party which took place last night on Haad Rin beach. There were thousands of people squashed onto the beach drinking buckets, covered in UV paint and dancing to all different kinds of music - psy-trance, drum'n'bass, breaks, house, pop.. Needless to say we ended up slightly worse for wear and Milla had to carry Jonny home! We don't have any pictures, unfortunately, as we had to protect the camera from the on-going Songkram water fights. Other memorable apsects of the night were Jonny's drum'n'bass mc-ing (very embarrassing) and dancing with funny Australians!
