We left Queensland early this morning and headed west along the Flinders hwy. Today was a long day of driving through the desert part of the NT. the road was long and straight and we cut out 900 Kms heading towards Darwin. The day was broken up with stops for fuel and food. Once we hit the Stuart Hwy we began our trek northwards.
Looking at the map we thought we would camp at a small place called Elliot . We timed our fuel exactly to fill up at Elliot camp the night and head off early next day.
We pulled up the service station and before I turned the motor off about 15 of the local fellas started making their way to the van. I looked at Greg he looked at me we calculated that the next stop is 100 km away we had 10 litres on the roof and we reckoned 10 litres left in the tank. 20 litres x by 5 km per litre equals let's get outa here.
We stopped 10 km out of a small township to top up with the motor almost spluttering on petrol fumes. We made it to our next destination which was unplanned but it was nice and safe. Place called Daly Waters, showered went to the pub and had a nice steak some coopers and watched some footy.
Up early tomorrow for our push to Darwin and Kakado.

Angela That's a crazy photo! Nearly collapsed when Greg sent it to me. Ha ha. So the locals weren't to your liking then? Reminds me of that town we drove through in south Africa. Kakado should be interesting.
