Another long day chasing the sun. We beelined for Mt Isa to do some clothes washing as we were desperate for some clean jocks.
This laundromat is featured in the photo images for Mt Isa so tells you that this is not the place to come for a holiday. Right smack in the middle of town is the copper mine accompanied by two massive chimney stacks. Some may find this appealing but Greg and I had lunch in a truck bay 10 Kms out of town heading for NT.
We have stopped 20 km short of the NT border and have set up camp. It was warm so before tea we went down the local for a couple of beers.
I met a chap this morning from the Queensland Rural Fire Service and chatted about his and my job then funnily the caravan next to ours was a fellow fire manager from NSW. Small world because in Cairns I met an aboriginal chap who I spoke with for a couple of hours, who worked for the NW Queensland land council in fire. Looks like all fireys go on holidays this time of the year. Off to NT tomorrow.
