Where to start in Rome!? This was Hannah's last stop so we have had to pack a lot in, which we did in impressive style. Ok first of all we went to hang out with the Pope at the Vatican city. This involved waking up ridiculously early so as to avoid the hordes of hideous tourists. Yes I know we are technically tourists, but we're not annoying or Japanese therefore that makes us better than everyone else. We strolled around the Vatican museum and visited the Sistine chapel which was impressive, Michelangelo was a clever boy. We went into St Peter's basillica and looked at some dead popes too. Rest of the day involved going to the Spanish steps, again too many tourists but nice nonetheless. Also visited the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain. Lots of icecream between all these excursions.
Our second day here involved a trip to the Colosseum which was awesome, although live Gladiators and Lions would have made it better. Saw some centurions waltzing about though in some pretty nifty man skirts! Walked round the Palatine Hill to see lots more old Roman ruins. Rome is old! Rest of the day was spent attemptimg to lounge in the sun before getting moved on by the Italian Police. Nevermind. It's been so hot here, we have a variety of interesting tan lines!
Today Hannah Browne has left us to fly back to the UK. Unfortunately I am now stuck with Michelle so interesting conversation and witty banter is out the window. We're off to Naples today, so ciao till then!
