So this blog is a bit of lie, its actually the 21st today but were getting pretty lazy with this bloggy thing and so I will inform you of what we were doing at that time.
We arrived in Venice late in the evening and stepping out from the train station your already hit with Venice as you've always imagined it- beautiful. We got a water bus to the roundabout location of our apartment, yes apartment, were moving up in the world. I contemplated pushing helen into the canal backpack and all just to see how deep it was but with rope boy always at our side my current attempt to get rid of her has been thwarted.
Having located the hostel the strange little Italian man took us down some dark alleys to our room, at which point we thought we maybe we were gonna get sold. Infact we were pleasantly suprised when we had our room, kitchen, bathroom etc.
The first days festivities consisted of a token gondalla ride around the city and a wonder around through the hoards of tourists. Fun fact- only 60,000 people actually live in Venice the rest are all bloody tourists. We have learnt to hate these people as they 1. wonder around aimlessly catching flies 2. they have bumbags 3. they have cameras arund there necks 4. they are really loud 5. they get in our way 6. The hang around in packs 7. they hold up material on sticks 8. they stink 9. there ugly 9. there fat 10. basically we dont fall into any of those so we dont count.
We decided that night that we were getting ridiculously poor and would save a bit by eating in that night....mistake. Helen was pretty convinved that we had an oven, I wasnt really dispuiting this and so we bought our meal of frozen pizza and asti. Returning to our apartment we realised how wrong we were and had to cook pizza on the hob in little pieces using asti, pineapple, tuna juice and water as cooking oil....yummy. Not gonna be doing that again anytime soon. Second night we were saved by the lovely Mr Brewer (thanks!!) and our meal was considerably better. We ate 3 courses, drank wine, and gazed across the grand canal.
Really enjoyed our stay here, really nice to wonder about and see the niceness, despite the crowds and even ventured a little further afield to enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine. Definetly a place to visit.
