Today was a day at home, this morning Mick had a swim then we had breakfast in the sun, then we did homework. Then, we decided to go to Porto Santo Stefano for lunch. 2 pm....'Trattoria il Moletta'.Well recommended, on the waterfront, overlooking the Harbour.
(Cuttlefish soup with mushrooms, a glass of local house white), delicious. Then a walk around the town, visited the waterfront fish shop; there are many varieties of local fish in the Med. especially around here.
We walked up many steps through small streets to the Spanish fort overlooking the Harbour. The ferry to the Island of Giglio leaves from here, this Island is where the Italian cruise liner recently ran aground.
Tonight we walked into the town of Porto Ercole to a beautiful little restaurant 'La locanda del Caravaggio'.
We were alone in the restaurant decorated with spring Wattle, (Mimosa).
Suddenly during the meal lots of women arrived in groups and we discovered that today was not only a beautiful full moon, but the festival of women, very strongly celebrated here. As we walked home after a delicious meal and fabulous local red wine, we saw many restaurants filled with many happy celebrating women.
