Wellington - Nelson
I woke up in Wellington after a big night out not feeling too bad - but with a sneaking suspicion I was still a bit drunk - today I am saying goodbye to the North Island and catching a ferry to the South Island! My plan was to sleep for the first 2 hours and then (on Matt's advice) watch the scenery for the last hour as it is apparently amazing! unfortunately my hangover caught up with me and I slept pretty much the whole time!
For some bizarre reason when we arrived on the South Island our first stop was a distillery where we could do wine tasting - I declined and had an ice cream instead! We had an explore of Nelson and then went to our wicked accomodation, two of the rooms had spa baths and saunas in them - me Gemma, Emma and Laura bagged one and team Oz got the other! This is probably the nicest room I have slept in since leaving home!
Unfortunatley my hangover has turned into a stinking cold which Emma has kindly given to me! So I am feeling pretty rough and went to bed stright after my dinner! Although when I woke up the next day I was pretty adament not to let being ill ruin my day so signed on for a Sky Dive - yep little old me will be hurling myself out of a plane - AGAIN and this time at 13,000 ft! And after the sky dive I am booked on for yet again Quad Biking! ( I love it)
The weather was bad in the morning so the Dive got postponed til 5pm for the people who were Quad Biking.... Quad Biking was pretty good we went up a mountian (or maybe a hill) and were surrounded my the most beautiful scenery - the session was finished by hurling round "The fun track" where I got told to slow down! Where is the fun in that??
It was then off to Sky Dive - I was felling pretty rough from my cold but went anyway.... I was in a plane with Ioanna and Rhe - the views from the plane were amazing we could see Abel Tasman Park - The Coast and loads of Mountains! I jumped last and free fell for 45 seconds - which was fantastic I had pursuaded the guy to spin us round a bit pretending I was a pro!!! All was good until my parachute would not open........ only joking!!! My ears did pop though which hurt and I think was worsened by my cold... when I landed I could not hear anything! I was pretty scared but managed to pop them a bit after a few minutes (which killed)
It was a pretty cool experience barring the temporary deafness.... the views were amazing and there really is not a feeling like free falling!
Today was a super long day - jumping out of planes and tearing around mountains on 4WD is not the best cure for a cold.. so after dinner I was straight to bed - an early start tomorrow as we head to Christchurch (via Kaikoura)
Having a wonderful time in NZ but being ill has made me want my big comfy bed and my mum bringing me lucozade and soup!!
