Day 4 Animal Kingdom
We arrived an hour before main opening to get on the safari trip as no Fast Pass. It seems every other early arriver had the same though. From entrance, everyone in front of us headed to same location. Luckily the safari busses took about 3@ at a time and there were loads waiting. We were on the move not long after joining the queue.
The trip was amazing, lots of lively animals, just like a zoo with animals running or in the case of lions, just lazing. They looked so close and no fence but driver explained that there was a massive ditch that we could not see. The group of giraffes were good and plenty of deer, antelope and springbok. Also elephants, hippos and rhinos. Most of them were heading to or already at the food just put out.
After ride we went on a walk through a bird area, all flying free, then a gorilla and monkey area - but they were across water or behind glass. They were funny to watch.
Like EPCOT, there were lots of different countries and different food cafes in each area. We ate in Africa, dad had ribs and I had a box of nibbly things - apple slices, cheese, biscuits, grapes and yoghurt. I also ate a lot of dad's ribs. They were yummy - except for the spicy sauce.
Dad suggested I skipped the Rapids ride we had a Fast Pass for, he thought it a bit rough and I agreed. May try it another day.
Loved the frozen bananas covered in chocolate. When we got home, dad cut up a banana and froze pieces for breakfast. Nice but prefer the chocolate and nut version on a stick!
Did a couple more rides and then started to head back to be home early. But it started to pour down. In minutes paths were under inches of water and everybody ran for cover. Luckily we were just leaving toilets so under cover. When it went off a bit we bought waterproofs and made way to car. This was first day dad did not take backpack with waterproofs in it. Forecast was dry. As we ate lunch a member of staff went past in long trousers and waterproof jacket. Dad asked why and he said a storm was moving in. Sky was clear so nobody worried. An hour or so later, the storm hit.
No bags means earlier park access as it takes ages in the search line - rest of week shows 0% rain so will risk no bags again. And we now use a different weather app!
Got back early and chilled out in apartment.
