Nice one hour flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui. Arrive at Baan Haad Ngam Resort at 9am and get told the room won't be ready until 1.30pm. The reception staff were nowhere near as nice as those at the Sofitel and they didn't have a room available as checkout was not until 1pm. I got the free hotel shuttle bus into the main town and there weren't many people around at 10am. I walked down to The Banana Fan Sea resort where I had wanted to stay but it was booked out and there was a construction site next door so glad I wasn't there. After walking around for an hour I was so hot I jumped on the back of a motor bike back to the hotel and went straight to the pool where I stayed until my room was ready. Really nice pool and Italian restaurant called 'Olivio' with chef Luigi (the fattest man I have ever seen). This resort is 4 star but I think it is really 3 star. My bed was as hard as a rock and I had to ask them to put a doona under the bed sheet to make it more comfortable which they did.

Eat Sense

I walked into town and then along the beach and had dinner at this beautiful restaurant on the beach called 'Eat Sense". It was very hot and humid and I had a refreshing watermelon juice, then a papaya and lime juice followed by a red curry duck with grape tomatoes, grapes, pineapple pieces and lychees (seeds out). It was the best and the whole grape tomatoes just exploded in your mouth and the sweetness of the grapes, lychees, tomatoes and pineapple was fantastic with the spicyness of the curry.
