A funny old start to the day. We had planned to do Vancouver Aquarium, Stanley Park and Granville Island. We bought the tickets and got as far as the bus stop and it started to pour down with rain again !! of course Joe and I had no waterproofsso we planned to go back to hotel and start again. We got on a bus that just went in a circle an brought us right back to where we got on !! This was fate telling us just to get on with the day and stop messing about. So we got on the next bus and headed off the Stanley Park and the Aquarium (after buying a couple of cheapo Canada flag umbrellas!! If we didn't look like to typical tourist before we do now.)
I won't go on too much about the Aquarium apart from saying that is was FANTASTIC !! Where would I start, most memorable were - the Beluga (white) whale show to start with, Dolphin shows , Sea Otters, Sharks, Turtles, Coelocanths, ... well what else would you expect. How about the Canadian Prime Minister ?? Actually yes, we were face to face, Joe shook his hand whilst I just took pictures .... he was there announcing something about funding for the aquarium. As we saw more and more of the Aquarium we were more and more impressed. It was superb - give them more funding Mr Prime Minister. Towards the end of our visit we went to a 4D cinema show - a great experience involving water, wind, bubbles and a poke in the back !! Fantastic.
We finally left the Aquarium and WOW !! - the sun had come out and it was HOT !! We walked through the woods and took in some of Stanley Park - it was great to get away from the "city" for a while.
Michelle:A great day after a bit of a wet start! And yes the bus went round in a circle but only because some of the roads are closed - like we're not used to road works. 4D show at the Aquariam was amazing, the poke in the back had everyone jumping out of their seats. Back at the hotel and a nice long soak in the hot tub followed by a drying out session in the sauna, what more could a girl ask for? Oh yes, a nice glass of dry white wine. Decided to eat in tonight so on our way back from the Aquarium headed to our favourite grocery store for ready cooked chicken and accompaniments. Find it hard to get used to the fact that they don't sell alcohol in the grocery stores here but you have to head to the local liquor store where the cheapest bottle of wine is $13.00 (about £8.00). So much to do in Vancouver but don't think we're going to see half of it.
