In one of the few departures from the East Coast, the Oz Experience takes us to Kroombit, a small cattle ranch and camping sight. Of course, small is a relative term - when these 'jackeroos' round up their cattle they have to use first helicopters, then motorbikes, then the more traditional horse. The large ranches have to use spotter planes. In any case, all manner of amusing activities were planned for use for the evening and morning we were going to spend there. After a hearty meal, we got a whip cracking, which I proved pretty adept at, after first whipping my arm a few times. Second up came the mechanical bull - I managed a respectable 4 seconds, which was put to shame when one of the Jilleroos started surfing on the damn thing. Then came some sleeping, followed by the optional goat round up in the morning. Not a massive fan of horses, I opted out and instead climbed a big hill in the baking early morning heat. I'm not sure why I did it, but there we go. Something to do. More exciting than that, we did clay pigeon shooting afterwards, followed by a goat rodeo, where we had to catch, flip and pretend to brand a goat. Most were quite docile, but one group had a goat that kept doing 6 foot leaps to escape. They took quite a while to catch it. Anywho, that was that for Kroombit.
