Leaving the relaxed atmosphere of Noosa we got to Queensland capital Brisbane, a new and shiny city of large tower blocks. I was in a room with two guys I'd met on the bus, Mark and metrosexual scouser and his friend, handily also called Mark. After brief introductions with some other people we went off the the XXXX brewery, where we were wowed the by the massive scale beer making before getting pished off the end result, before rounding off the night with a Chinese. The next day was my birthday (woo!). After an early start to call home an ever expanding group of us went off to a koala santuary, where we saw many weird and wonderful critters and I got a very cute photo of me hugging a koala. I'm afraid I'll have to end there, this time as my internet credit is fast running out!
So Brisbane. After the Koala's we returned and stocked up on goon, the delightful cheap boxed wine that backpackers destroy their livers with in Oz, and I treated myself to a few beers which the bottle shop worker insisted were the best ever. They were not, but I forgave him as he was at least 18 and still had braces. By about 9 there were at least 15 people crammed into my small room - some I didn't know, but that was fine, we were all there to have Fun. Needless to say the night proceeded drunkenly - our best laid plans to wander over to 'The Valley', Brisbane's clubbing district, fell through and we ended up staying in the hostel bar all night. I was on a 1pm bus the next day - thankfully I wasn't hung over when I got it, although this was mainly because I was still drunk - the hangover kicked in with a vengance half way to Byron Bay.
