Bula!
Which means welcome in Fijian, and it also means everything, it's all they say to each other, weird! I have been here for nearly a week, they pinched a day off us to start with, i departed LA on Tuesday and arrived in Fiji on Thursday, bizzare!! Didn't take long to adjust to the new time, the swealtering heat and the phenomenon that is "Fiji Time" - it is a lot like Greek "maybe" time, where everything runs really slowly and when they say they will pick you up at 5pm Fiji time, it will be whenever they decide to turn up!
Met some really cool people, spent the week island hopping with a group of about 8 english people, all really friendly and one bloke was actually from Pinner and works in Pinner Arms, small world!
Fiji is very primitive compared to anywhere i have been to, they have only recently abolished cannibalism too, and by looking at some of them, you have to wonder...
The men are massive and carry four suitcases on their backs and the women are the ugliest I have ever seen! ha ha! Managed to watch a lot of rugby out here too and got lots of stick when i put my welsh kit on, but also lots of free drinks!
Highlights for me were snorkling in the coral reefs, some beautiful coloured fish, scuba diving for free because we won a bet for a free lesson! Kayaking from island to island pretending I'd discovered it, then planting a welsh flag as i arrived at each island, mainly to the disguct of the inhabitants, we got chased off one island and i've never paddled to fast!
On the whole I have really enjoyed Fiji and wish I could have stayed longer, my next stop is New Zealand and I am disappointed they are out of the rugby as there wont be many parties out there!
Love to everyone! Mum and Dad I have bought you a birthday present each but I think you will have to wait until I get back, unless I try and send it...
Speak to you from NZ!
