Arriving in New Zealand from Fiji was like arriving in the Arctic, so so cold! And I only had shorts and a t-shirt on... after collecting my bag from the airport (also getting my arm properly stuck in one of the straps) I jumped on the local bus and headed for Christchurch. It all looks and feels very English, which is quite comforting as everything is very easy to find and people are easy to ask...
Arriving pretty late, i met my new room mates, a group of Irish lads and one from Stoke, quite quiet to start with, but we were all pretty tired so we just went cinema and to bed, partttttyy!!! ha ha.
Today i had a nice lie in and booked an extra night here, nice hostel, nicest so far! I have changed some flights over and booked a trip for tomorrow, I will be going in an off roaded (also driving it) across the scenery of Lord of the Rings!! Can't wait...
I will update this more when I have done more interesting stuff other than washing! Ok so I've finished my washing now, and have done some interesting things already! I took an off road course which involved driving a 6wheeler jeep through Middle Earth, where lord of the rings was filmed, awesome as we had the music from the film playing and I was driving through rivers and up steep hills etc, bit hairy at times!! The whole day was one of the best days out i've had, from 9am til 6pm, free lunch and met some interesting people, two chinese, a mum and daughter didn't realise it was an off-roading experience and thought they were just on a sight seeing day out! ha ha they were shocked and scared at times!
Yesterday I went to a place called Hamner Springs with this new zealand air hostess, Jane, that I met one night. we drove for about an hour and it was tipping down with rain the whole way, as soon as we arrived at the thermal pools, the sun came out... picture this... rocky thermal mountain springs 40 degrees in some, champagne glass and a stuning air hostess in a bikini too! I will upload pictures for all the blokes to ogle and get jealous over soon! haha!
I have extended my time in New Zealand by a week to spend a bit more time with Jane and to join two different groups of lads on their campervan trips to Queenstown to maybe to a sky dive, cash permitting ofcourse!!
Impressions of New Zealand so far aren't great, the weather has been shocking and the scenery is not very impressive compared to the USA, but I will checking out some glaciers too before I leave, so maybe they will take my breath away, who knows! Lovely people here, but it's been a lot like Wales, loads and loads of sheep and plenty of rain!!
I will update this after the weekend and when I get to Queenstown! All the best... Hey!! I have changed my plans once more and decided to get out of new zealand asap as the weather is far too cold and there is harly anything to do here, i am leaving on the first plane tomorrow morning to sydney, can't wait!!
Overall new zealand has been disappointing, luckliy i met some nice people here otherwise i would have been well bored!
Next stop Australia!!
