Never did I think I would feel at ease when surrounded by alligators but by the end of our incredible 3 day trip in the Amazon, I was quite frankly bored of the things. At first they were a bit on the scary side...on the first night we went alligator watching where we were each given a flash light to shine into the pitch black water and when you shone your touch at a gator all you could see were their orange eyes! And they were everywhere so a tad creepy....

So when Bolivians say the bus leaves at 11am, they mean 1.30pm and when they tell you it takes 17 hours, they actually meant 22. We knew from the outset this was not going to be the journey of dreams. And it was far from it. Inconveniences included extreme fog (to the extent I'm sure the driver could not see the road, never good when you are driving on the edge of a mountain) a top speed of 20mph and excess cargo that not only delayed the departure time, sl...
