Hello everyone. We left Bangkok this morning and took a bus to Kanchanaburi which is where the Bridge over the River Kwai is, also the Death Railway. It is so much nicer here, the sky isnt completely covered by smog and the people arent all looking to do whatever they can for you for money! We were told that we would potentially be sleeping with rats tonight but it actually turns out that we are on a really nice hut floating on a raft in the river, it is anchored though! Had a really good day today, took a speed boat up the river kwai and visited a cave temple, the famous bridge and war cemeteries, we also past a monkey school which was incredible. I am not looking forward to going back to Bangkok before leaving as i really didnt enjoy it, it was so smelly and dirty and completely packed with tourists. The only exotic wildlife we have seen so far are the many geckos outside our room, but we have been told to expect snakes, spiders and elephants on our trek which we start on wednesday. It has been really hot and sunny today and it is much less muggy here than in Bangkok so we have all enjoyed it alot which has raised our spirits after the very negative experience of Bangkok. We are visiting a secluded waterfall and possibly a tiger temple tomorrow which we are really looking forward to. Probably won't be able to write again until the weekend as we are jungle trekking until we catch a sixteen hour overnight train to the very north of Thailand, Chang Mai. Unfortunately we didnt see the main attractions in Bangkok, we are doing that in two weeks time with our tour group, which, by the way are all ok and mostly australian. I added some pictures but not many because it takes a ridiculously long time to upload photos on theses computers. Hope you are all ok, speak soon, mat x
