Hello again. We have just got back from our trek and im very tired! The trek itself was quite demanding but easily do-able, unfortunately however, the scenery wasn't great, we saw a few huts, rice fields and hills but most of the way we were watching our feet so as not to trip over the vines.
On the first day we did an elephant trek which was really fun, walked for about four hours up steep hills and arrived at our hut which was situated right by a waterfall. Everything seemed brilliant until about five o clock when the temperature suddenly dropped. It was probably no more than one or two degrees the whole night due to the altitude and we were sleeping outside! i wore all the clothes i had with me, i left most behind in our hotel, and wrapped my hired sleeping bag around my head but was shivering all through the night and didnt manage to fall asleep once. Last night was very much the same. Yesterday the hill tribe children played us at a game of football in their local school which was really surreal and then they grouped together and sang us the local songs before we went to sleep. We rewarded them with toothpaste and toothbrushes. Due to the long sleepless nights i spent a lot of time thinking about home, and sarah and actually got quite down, this ruined the experience a little but it is still one i will never forget. We are in the north for one more week before going south to all the beaches which i am really looking forward to!
I hope everything is ok at home, i knew you would buy just as much food with out me. I miss you all a lot, this week has seemed very very long, speak soon mat x x x
