Trip to Griffin Falls - 25/09/10
On the weekend of the 25th September, Justine and I were visited by Benny, as his prtner, Finn, was in Kampala visiting his UNcle. He was supposed to come back tht day, but typically his card got swallowed by an ATM so he had to stay on.Anyhow, me Justine and Benny headed off on Boda - Bodas (motorbikes) to a place called GRiffin Falls nearby Lugazi. Althoguh the drivers originally claimed they knew where it was, it was soon obvious they actually had NO IDEA and kept askingus if they were going the right way. Excellent. The drive was pretty cool through miles off sugar cane plantation and little villages with mud huts. With a bit of luck, we eventually managaed to rrive in the right place. We payed 3,000USH for a guide to take us on a walk through the forest. As there was no transport there to take us back, the boda boa drivers had to wait - so thy decided to just come with us which was pretty funny as I don't think they quite understand the idea of going for a walk...Eventually on the walk, te forest began to clear and we could hear the distant sound of water, and we soon came out on the falls. It was really pretty and the water was runn9ing pretty fast. The only problem was that there was an awful smell which was caused by thefact that the sugar factory just empty their waste into the river...excellent. On theway back through the forest we saw Monkeys. Yay!!! Haha...all in all the trip was pretty good except from the fact I nearly fell off the boda boda trying to take photos...
