We say goodbye to N+G and have an easy run home in the sunshine.
Travelling in November means we have now spent time away in Mary*Lou during every month, although not in the same year. 2016 has been good, starting with our trip last Christmas and finishing now. We've spent over 160 days and nights in our little home-from-home and woken up with who knows how many different views each morning.
Most of our 10,000 miles were in France, but there were good times in Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands, plus an afternoon driving through Belgium.
We remember some of the highlights;
Christmas dinner, The giant bauble in Salamaca, Cordoba and the Mezquita, Seville's Alcazar and the Sherry factory in Sanlucar. The marble towns of Evora, Beja and Estramoz, and the beauty around Monchique.
The easy-going Netherlands, dykes, little marinas, tallships and tulip farms.
Then France, it has everything; Brittany's harbours and coast; fortress towns like Langres and Uzerche; Millau viaduct; Challenging but spectacular drives through the Tarn Gorge; wetlands of the Marais and the salt pans of Guerande; Historic gems like Bergerac and Beaune; Mighty rivers and canals like the Rhone and Garonne. Farms and vineyards with the chance to get food and drink where it was made.
People we've met, strangers who become friends for an hour or so before we part in different directions; the old couple in Roscoff, Jeff and Basia in Uzerche, Jordan and Mary in St Armand and St Jean du Gard. Others we may see again; Claudie certainly and other Passion owners who provide safe and interesting parking on their property. The cheese vendor in Martel who gave us a platter and said welcome to my country.
It's a grand way to see things and hopefully much more to come, so if you want to ride along and share our look at the world, join us for next year's travels at www.offexploring.com/marylou2017
