Jason, Martin (& Co) Across the USA!
Not much to report from New Jersey either. As we leave Philly it certainly feels like our journey's getting towards a conclusion. A wierd feeling, we've become so used to travelling it will be wierd to reach the end. There's also a sense of achievement at having nearly completed the trip, and excitement at being so close to NYC!
We make a token stop at a services on the New Jersey Turnpike. It seems that all NJ is famous for is being next to New York. It's suburbia USA, their version of Slough. As the majority of available souvenirs are New York related Jason settles for a T-shirt with the Turnpike logo across the front of it.
As we pass into New York state we make one final stop-off on Staten Island and drive down to the Atlantic coastline. We could now truly say that we'd driven coast to coast and stood next to both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and travelled all the way across the USA! We do a final tidy-up in the car and discard used bottles, sweet wrappers and cookie tubs before heading into New York. Slight sense of anti-climax when we struggle to find our way out of Staten Island and as soon as we do we end up in a traffic jam.
