Jason, Martin (& Co) Across the USA!
Leave Gallup having been able to find the internet in a few days. The previous night the hotel manager had offered brief hope but due to a mistranslation between accents had directed us to the swimming pool.
We head off towards Albuquerque and go into the 'Old Town' parts. The area is very Mexican and the Hispanic flavour is easy to spot with a flamenco dancing demonstration in the town square. Eat in a local Mexican restaurant where they fill you up with a bottomless supply of nachos and chilly before your food arrives, have great tortilla wraps for the main course, easily the best meal of the trip so far!
End up in Santa Fe on the day of their annual Native American celebrations. Result is no where to park but as a huge storm hits, we're glad we're still sitting in the car! Find a space just as the rains dies off and set out to explore. Come across some Native American dances outside the Catholic cathedral, dancing around an incense burning fire. Having aquired the incense smell we follow a sign to 'Famous Staircase Chapel' and see the famous and pretty nifty staircase in the advertised chapel (Loretto). Take in the sights and sounds of a Starbucks and go off in search of accommodation. End up spending the night in the confusingly named Las Vegas, New Mexico.
