After a heavy few days on Koh Phangan we headed off to Koh Tao for a bit of relaxation. So much so that we didn't leave for 11 days!!
The most energetic thing we did during our time there was a four day PADI diving course which was amazing! We had a few days to recover from the full moon party before we started the course. The first day was just watching a video, which was pretty dull after an hour. The second day we went in the pool and learnt all the hand signals, how to take off our mask, breathing with someone else's regulator and all the basics. The next day we actually got to go in the sea. We went out on the boat and did two dives. It was a little weird at first, I had to concentrate on my breathing and equalise my ears, but once I got over the initial shock it was brilliant. We didn't see any big fish on the first day, just lots of small bright fish which were gorgeous.
The following day we had two more dives in the sea before doing our exam. The first dive site was quite far out and this was the place we had the chance to see sharks! As soon as the first person jumped in the water they said there were jelly fish, I hate jelly fish so I was a little worried. When I jumped in I managed to jump straight on one and got stung on my arm. They were only small but it hurt!! There were absolutely hundreds of them, some stung and some didn't. It looked pretty amazing when you looked at them underwater, they were everywhere. Once we got a little further down there weren't so many. We managed to see a meter long grouper fish, it looked huge, but unfortunately there were no sharks.
The second dive was at a different site so there were no jelly fish this time. There was agirls with us who filming us so we could buy the video after so we spent ages jumping in the water and doing silly things underwater for the camera. The last dive we did was probably the least exciting of them all as there weren't that many fish around. After that we had our final exam, which I managed to pass.
The rest of the time on Koh Tao was spent sunbathing, lounging around the pool or by the sea. It's such a relaxed place that it was difficult to leave. We met loads of people so by the end of our time there we had a big group, which made it even harder to leave.
We left for Malaysia on the overnight boat, somehow we managed to pick the roughest day to leave so the journey was a little rocky to start with but I soon managed to get off to sleep.
