I went back to Bangkok for the third time and met up with Pete who I used to work with and is now living in Bangkok. We went out for some food and a good bottle of wine - something I have truly missed since being away! It was a long night and involved several buckets, it was good to see a familiar face!
Lee arrived the next day and we had one night in Bangkok before heading down to Koh Phangan. We went to a little place on the west coast called Haad Yao, it was lovely there. It was nice to do nothing after all the traveling, we basically spent the days by the pool or on the beach and then ate and drank lots at night.
After Lee left I went to Haad Rin to meet up with a load of people that had made their way there for the full moon. Haad Rin was completely different to Haad Yao, far livelier, not quite as clean and very noisy! On the first night there was a pool party but I was pretty shattered so went home early, well I was in bed for 2am. The next day we just lazed on the beach before heading out in the evening. I had planned to have a quiet one in preparation for the full moon party the next evening but it didn't quite happen. Several buckets later and after watching the sun rise I went to bed! The following day wasn't really very productive!
We met up with everyone for the full moon party around 8am to get some food. I was feeling a little apprehensive about it as I'd had such a good night the night before I thought it might not be as good, especially as there were going to be so many people there. The night got off to a good start when the lads decided to go all out with the UV paint, they were absolutely covered within half an hour!! I started we just a couple of simple paintings on my arm and war paint on my face but it got progressively worse as the night proceeded! By the end of the night I was also covered. It was a brilliant night, like nothing else I've ever been too, there are bars up and down the beach all playing different music, stalls everywhere selling buckets of alcohol, fire shows, limbo dancing, it's madness. I spent most of the night run around the different bars dancing, falling off tables whilst dancing and drinking. I managed to stay up until the sun rise before lying on the beach with a coconut and finally going to bed at 9am.
I slept for most of the next day before heading out again. The beach was absolutely deserted when we first went out so I thought it would be a quiet one. The place started to fill up around 11 and so it turned into one last big night before me and Matt left the following day to go to Koh Tao. I didn't quite managed three sun rises in a row though.
