After leaving Phnom Penh I traveled to Bangkok, spent the night there and then got the overnight bus up to Chiang Mai. By the time I arrived I was shattered from all the traveling. I'd met I lad called Olly on the bus so we found a guest house that one of the girls had stayed at before and had recommended. I didn't do much that day other than read and sleep.
The next day me and Olly had booked to go on a two day trek so got up to head off to that. There was a group of 12 of us, us two English, four Spanish girls, a few Dutch people an couple of other. We first went to an elephant camp where we got to ride on the elephants and feed them. Then we went to start our trek, it started off relatively easy but after a while it got very hard, we were all struggling at some point. We eventually made it up, it took about 3 hours before we reached the hill tribe we were staying with, but it was worth it for the views. We had a meal and then stayed up for a while but I was so tired after all the exercise I went to bed quite early.
The following day we got up for breakfast before starting the climb back down. We stopped off at a waterfall which was gorgeous, and very refreshing! Then we trekked down to where we started the white water rafting. It wasn't too scary, there were a few fast bits but it was fun. Just as we finished it began to rain. We started bamboo rafting and the heavens opened, everyone got completely soaked, we might as well have just swam down the river! We went back to some huts where we changed into some dry clothes before heading back to the guest house.
I was still pretty tired so had an early night. The next day I was booked to go back to Bangkok on the overnight bus so didn't really do a great deal.
