We picked up our car and set of for Yosemite National Park, about 4-5 hours from San Francisco. We arrived and booked into our Canvas Tent - which cost us $80 a night!! But we were based right in the centre of the National Park, and had great views, which we suppose made up for it! The first night was uneventful, in terms of sleeping, as we didn't actually get any! We had Snorey McSnore next to us and Mr Snorison behind us and the kids from hell all around! So at 5am we gave up, got up and set off for the day, heading first to Glacier Point. There were fantastic views all over the valley from here, but there was no Glacier!
We then continued down the trail to Mariposa Grove where we did a hike through the Giant Sequoias (sec-coy-a) trees, the highest being about 290feet (88 metres) tall. The hike took us around the main sights, seeing tunnel trees, a fallen monarch tree, Grizzly Giant trees and loads of wildlife. We climbed from 5,600 ft to 6,600 ft through the forest. We then headed north to Tuolumne Meadows, passing Tenaya Lake and snowcapped mountains, we even passed snow near to the road! After a yummy and very hearty meal at Tioga Pass we headed back to our campsite in the valley (called Curry Village - no sign of Manzil's though!). That night we slept like the dead!
