From the Canyon we drove along Route 66 and passed the Hoover Dam to get to Vegas, baby, yeah! We arrived at our hotel, Bally's, on the strip, and headed straight for a little sight seeing. We had lunch in Paris and then checked into our Mammouth rooms - they had upgraded us to a suite (no bed bug bites for Holly here, no siree!). It took Laura 10 seconds to run around the whole suite, really fast, it was that big! After she calmed down, we went for a little flutter at the roulette tables. But, unfortunately, we didn't get Grandad Jack's gambling genes and we both lost $20 in Caesar's Palace! But Rob, having gotten all of Nana Mary's genes and the luck of the Irish, won!
That night we looked around the Bellagio, MGM Grand and went down to New York, New York for a ride on the Manhattan Express roller coaster...very good and scary, but needed a bit of padding for our delicate shoulders!
The next day we hit the tables again after one of Vegas's famous all you can eat buffets! We rolled from table to table to table going through Harrah's, Circus, Circus, Stardust up to the Stratosphere (this end was a bit more like Blackpool!). That night we went to the Venitian Casino, our favourite, with canals and gondola's running through the cobbled streets and under the lavishly painted ceilings and skies of faux-Venice.
On our third day we had another yummy buffet at Paris and hit the tables, once again - Laura managed to win a little, Holly was still down and Mum still didn't have a clue, but enjoyed the free drinks! We went to Rio to see the live carnival acts circulating the ceiling before heading back to get ready for the Blue Man Show. The show was fantastic, there were laughs, magic, music, paint and lots of paper!! All in all a great show and a fantastic time in Vegas, the craziest city we've been to!
